I bought a bundle with 512GB of RAM and an older 24-core EPYC (7F72) + supermicro motherboard on ebay a bit over a year ago, it was really an amazing deal and has made for a truly nice NAS. If you're okay with stuff that's old eno

This is one thing I don't really blame Apple for, and I think everyone else will follow suit -- and not just because Apple is doing it. The EU requires that users must be able to buy a device without a charger. It's a huge suppl

Are serious people actually using the gimped iPad versions of those pieces of software? I can't really imagine doing serious video editing on an iPad.

It's great, sure. But why release an M4 iPad Pro when essentially no software can make use of the processor power improvements since 2018?

And the power we give it in terms of e.g choosing a tech stack... How much would Vercel be willing to pay OpenAI and Anthropic to nudge ChatGPT and Claude towards producing Vercel-compatible next.js apps? Maybe the models could even ask, &q

Do you view it as an issue at all that when everyone takes on a more manager-like role, no human remains who has the hands-on experience and understanding of the system?

How often, in your experience, do people read those auto-generated markdown files? Do you have any empirical data on how useful people find reading other people's agents' auto-generated files?

Oh my god, it's absolutely chock full of AI-isms. Almost every sentence is a list of 3 items, often nested lists of 3 items.

But it does matter to their opinion of the site: is it down because the author took it down, is it down due to a technical problem, or is it is it down because the hosting provider took it down? "This deployment is temporarily paused

"Page" is OS terminology. "Arena" is Go terminology. An arena is made up of sequential pages. Go asks the OS for 64MB of sequential memory, and calls that 64MB chunk an arena; this is consistent with the text you quoted.

And you're saying Apple is doing that on the iPhone?

What other possibility are there? By what mechanism are you suggesting that iPhones save power by keeping RAM usage low?

This is an argument for having less memory on a hardware level. But once the DRAM is there, it uses power, whether or not it stores useful data or useless data. There's a reason why we say unused RAM is wasted RAM.

I've had a ton of issues trying to use Podman instead of Docker on Fedora. SELinux keeps blocking Podman from doing stuff it needs to, while Docker just works. I've also experienced Podman "getting stuck" sometimes: it&#

I personally use Docker Desktop because it was the easiest way to install Docker on my Mac. I launch Docker Desktop, close the window but keep the app running in the background, then use the docker tool on the command line :)

Frankly I don't really even want an opt-in. If Mozilla wants to go build an AI browser, they can do that, but it should be a separate project; don't transition Firefox into being an AI browser. I don't want to use an "AI

Chrome built its market share as a non-OEM browser, and to this day, it's only an OEM browser on Android yet it dominates the desktop browser space.

When I said Mozilla's market share has been going downhill for most of my life, that counts the 2010-2015 market share losses. I don't think anything 2020-present retroactively caused the losses in 2010; on the other hand, I think

Your quote doesn't make sense, you can't just rip a sentence fragment out of its context and criticize it. The thing I don't wanna figure out what means is the term "AI browser". I know what a chat bot sidebar is.
