Yes, this only applies to new cars, not used cars. You will be able to sell and buy used cars after 2035 if this proposal comes into effect. Note that while the parliament of the EU has approved the proposal, it still needs approval from th

I don't know about easy, but there are plenty of good sites left if you don't have a blanket ban of around a mile around every hamlet. And it'd help if the approval procedures for new construction wouldn't drag on for ye

Among many other things. We should have started figuring out this stuff -- and implementing it -- twenty years ago. Such a missed opportunity.

Except in summer, when it's hot and dry enough again for France's nuclear power plants to turn intermittent, too.

Renewables are the only way that Europe will be somewhat independent in terms of energy in the forseeable future (though hardly emissions free). The technology is already there, we've just been sitting on our asses for two decades inst

Nice places for a walk: the forest, a river bank, a park, walkable (zero car) city center. Poor places for a walk: anywhere there are cars, anywhere that is indoors. I get that there are places with inhospitable climate where it's too

You can play loads of games on Linux, it's way easier than it has ever been. You just refuse to do so, on principle.

Thanks, that's pretty much equivalent to reader mode then. Though for some reason you cannot switch to other tabs while viewing one page on simplified mode? Weird.

Well, I'm trying out Vivaldi on Android. I've been using Firefox for, well, forever, but the tab handling[1] is bad enough that I'm willing to jump ship. So far it's... different? The tab handling is better, and I think

I'd love to use this with my Roborock S4, because from what I can tell it works better with the open software than with Xiaomi's cloud software (and you drop the cloud requirement). But from what I remember it's quite an invo

Maybe, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The fastest charging Android phones charge at >100 W, while wireless charging is currently at 10-15 W.

Tzatziki is great on eggplant (charred or otherwise), but I've never heard of eggplant being an ingredient in Tzatziki. Maybe you're thinking of baba ganoush, which is a dip with a charred eggplant and tahini base. I've mad

Schwarz group operates 1300 Kaufland stores. Kaufland is like a Walmart (as far as I understand), each store is huge and sells everything . They also operate around 10000 Lidl stores across 32 countries. Those are smaller and sell mostly g

Australia is so large that that's not very meaningful. Early in the year and throughout, a lot of fresh fruit sold in Germany is grown in Spain. That's 2000 km, around half the distance between Perth and Sidney. If I consider that

Even the regional US chains like Publix or HEB or Fred Meyer are as large as many EU chains outside of Tesco, which may as well be the Walmart of Europe. Tesco isn't the largest chain in Europe. Walmart is bigger than the large Europ

Sounds like the beginning of a pulp fantasy scifi novel. You could submit that sentence to the Little Lytton contest: http://adamcadre.ac/lyttle.html

That's going to depend on your dishwasher. Our dishwasher does a prewash even in eco mode. But the water won't get as hot (to save power) and it takes longer. On the other hand, the 30 minute mode only does the one main wash. Chec

I have a (discount) supermarket literally next door, but I still have groceries delivered once a week. The quality is better, the selection is better, I don't have to lug around cases of beer like I did at university. There is no ventu

I kind of would have expected a $175 keyboard to survive a coffee spill. It doesn't really happen anymore, but as a kid I must have spilled soda on my no-name keyboards once a month, with no ill effects.

Ok? That's not a word? I'm not saying the current politics are good, but that's what they are. You don't debate them by feigning ignorance like Guthur did. Pithy neologisms don't add much, either.

No touch protection as in it's open on four sides, right? With metal through-screws, to boot. As opposed to an enclosed, isolated case. I guess it'd be safe for low voltage measurements?
