Before the Internet became widespread, people were using BBSs, and several large (for the time) networks of interconnections between them. Fidonet, and many more regional ones like Z-Netz. There were also networks for businesses and researc

Voice mail is terrible, but I do think Google Chat/Meet is missing a "call" button. All you can do is send a regular chat message with a link to an impromptu meet. Sometimes I would like a button that politely asks for more i

Street level light rail is fantastic. My city replaced most of it with subways. Which, don't get me wrong, are preferable to almost everything else. But it does mean getting to and from the train requires an additional walk and stair&#

A Renault Twingo weighs about 2150 lbs. This is a sensible car which seats two comfortably and four in a pinch. It also gets 40-50 mpg. No, you can't transport your quad with it, and it's not very useful when moving house. It'

You're still not saying how this lets Germany "control the EU". If anything it sounds like you want Eastern Europe to control the access to gas in order to have an inordinate amount of influence over Germany. So basically wha

It's my sense that a more prosocial policy wouldn't put two stressed parents ..., and then know that them taking 8 months is the reason the other parent could take only 6 months. People usually figure this out months in advance.

So you're saying 7 months each that cannot be shared would be preferable? Not to mention that you are legally entitled to additional unpaid leave (years, if you want). Such a weird way to construe a relatively generous and beloved so
