I feel this time it really is different. Firstly, there were the anti-competitive practices by Intel (which saw them fined). There are a few other factors as well. The fact that these CPUs really are something special. As they manage to rea

With all due respect, it's not a postmortem, it's an advert. It doesn't really say anything other than "We had a problem, we fixed it.". There are virtually no technical details in there other than "something w

But still gets looked down on. It's a running joke in pretty much everywhere I've worked that if you see someone with CEH and/or CISSP in their email signature - like a badge of honour - that you know you're going to be

From what I remember the cooling unit alone required 1200W just to run and was the size of a small air conditioning unit, conveniently hidden under the table. (edit: obviously i've replied to the wrong comment, this is aimed at Intel&#

That's exactly what I did. The problem I was trying to address is you shouldn't have to expect to read into the stdlib to optimize the code. Adding a ReadDirNoSort (as suggested in the initial 2012 pull) wouldn't hurt anyone.

These are some really cool optimizations. It is nice that they're letting you put these in, and it's always kind of bugged me that they won't do some basic optimization of their util classes - like ReadDir sorting by filename

Why not C#? Seems a bit of a missed opportunity to feed some of the APIs undoubtedly created for this into the new .net core stuff. I guess i'll just keep dreaming of the day when i can reliably convert a docx into a pdf without using

Thanks for the suggestion, but i can say with a firm authority, that the Apose suite of everything is absolutely horrible. Their Word/Office offerings, and their CAD stuff just don't work. Their marketing team, however, are absolu

CAD stuff is such a nightmare. Attempting to navigate the mixture of poorly/undocumented file formats (AutoCAD, as a perfect example) is a massive pain. Attempting to get any form of generic viewer in the browser, or convert the file

Are there any plans to make reddit video better? It's by far the worst video experience i've ever had on, well, anything really. On FF mobile it freezes regularly, audio and/or video, seems to take an eternity to load (and i&

IMO they really need to do a revenue share. Big influencers (think youtube style ad revenue) would make enough to move on to the platform. Smaller users would still get the occasional 5 bucks, enough to keep people interested. Yes they'

Pretty much exactly what Orf said below. The writeup was great and you did a fantastic job of knowledge sharing (which is what this is all about tbh). However the "alright" refers to the two aforementioned medium risk issues. When

I don't understand the shock here? Large corporations don't want users installing random apps. I don't see why an NHS laptop, for example, should have Bejewelled installed, or some dodgy app which gives permissions to the use
