Not really, a 10 Gbps SFP+ can be had for $18. A 1 Gbps SFP is around $8. They continue to drop in price. With an SFP you can go 500 m tot 10 km, around $0,06 per meter for a pair of fibers.

In 1990 I started the first ISP in the Netherlands, I had a dialup modem bank in a spare room after I installed the first hundred phone lines from the trunk line across the street. My backbone was upgraded to a 2 Mbps custom modem to the ra

I have hosted all my websites on a server at home since 1993 until 2021. I never had any downtime or problems. I ran a ISP and datacenter from my home for a decade as well. Nowadays I have a $2 per month VPS to forward a static IP at 1 Gbps

Yes the Blue book is still good. But there is not much language syntax to learn[1], you should start with using objects directly in the Squeak or Etoys environment, preferably a few Morphs. Even simpler, see these video tutorials[2]. You&#x

A 300mm wafer at 16nm node would cost more than $6500 a piece. The power consumption would be more than 20kW if all transistors are in use simultaneously. We am designing a special reconfigurable AC-DC and DC-DC power router (inverter) to s

An FPGA would make it much more generic a product so you can sell to more markets. But you would loose a factor 200 (a factor 1000 with traditional FPGA design) to make transistors reconfigurable. If you leave the wafer intact, you get 70,0

I agree there is no complete evidence of a full WSI yet. There are several recent papers on Wafer Scale Integration (WSI) and some WSI built (large sensors) with reasonable yields. There are many papers on partial problem solutions that,
