Are you saying Nesrin Sipahi, who received a personal award from the president, has nothing but Spotify?

Plus storage for elements you aren't using, plus work area. A coworker was shocked I could dedicate a ~1.5x4 L desk to my miniature painting. Most 25-30yo people I know here in Berlin would have to choose between this or a partner, pur

As someone who still has a couple physical Cat and Girl zines, and who spent those same years writing free software for real people and not to pad a resume or force a standards committee's hand... this hits really hard.

I think it's hard to wrap all those hobbies up into one "reason" for the shift. One though is that kids probably see a lot less ships (in real life and film/TV) than they did 20, let alone 50, years ago. Kids will react

For a lot of the services I'm thinking of for this case the scheduling may be across multiple nodes but it may not be flexible - e.g. this is my preferred way to run things which need guaranteed local iops. So Swarm maybe helps with se

You can keep using x-compose on several nodes, you just need e.g. ansible or salt on top of it. For many things this is still a local maximum compared to a K8s cluster or "just ssh in'.

MBTI is a pseudoscience, not a magic spell to "execute a rhetorical strategy" - or again, as a homo sapiens might call it, "talk to".

While creepier, tbh, that is also not actually very unusual for the kinds of contracts Palantir takes on.

I'm sure Palantir is up to just as much shit in its sales division as it is in its actual work, but normal human beings just call changing your communication style and content in response to the listener's reactions "having a

Given the size of any dataset of the type being discussed here, you dump the whole thing to disk on every change.

It's not using hashes. (OK, well, it is maybe using hashes for the per-SST Bloom filter, but that's not what's interesting here. It's maybe also using hashes in the memtable in which case they're using it very ineff

RocksDB is disk persistence but it sure ain't (for this scale) cheap. Persisting just about anything in Java is easier than persisting it in Java in RocksDB .

Using RocksDB here seems fairly insane unless you need to keep (at least) several billion constantly-updating versions sorted. Otherwise you can just use SortedMap and regular Java comparators.

Even ignoring all the other advantages (mostly synchronization-related, which do objectively make implementing algorithms on UTF-8-encoded data simpler), "the number of set prefix bits is the number of bytes" doesn't seem mea
