The whole point of this whole thread in a nutshell is that speed is greatly underrated. Besides this thread we had a bunch of "We discovered that adblockers clean up and speed up browsing experience by x%. Now why is that?" thread

I don't do soylent or clones, so I don't talk from experience. From what I've read, farting is a problem for most people when changing diets and suddenly adding much more fiber than they were used to before. It lasts for a wh

Now that would be unrealistic. You can't really guess which distro someone is using just by glancing over their screen for a second. You can tell which DE they are using but not distro, except in the case of Unity and Pantheon, those a

Back button doesn't work right on that site. It gets you back to the top of previous page, it doesn't take you down where you were on the page. I love modern web UX. (Firefox & Chromium. )

For me, the no-BS standard looking UI was the reason to choose Foobar, as compared to Win Media Player or Winamp and other weird looking ones. (Remember Sonique? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonique_%28media_player%29

I also recommend YAYOG program. It's $3 now for the app and I really think it's worth that price. I think it was $7 when I got it, and it was money well spent. Timers, videos, descriptions, warm-up and cool-downs, everything is se

A mistake? All I see is pure malice. The guy threatened the developers with bad press, and then he followed through with it. I don't see how that is a 'simple mistake', it was plain extortion. Talking about reputation, what

Firefox is kinda special because they get a lot money from whoever pays them to be the default search engine, doesn't matter if it's Google or Microsoft or Yahoo. There's only so much software that can get away with that, GPG

I don't think it's helpful to consider this ban a non-issue because it's easy to bypass. It's easy to bypass this time, next time it may be a bit harder, depending on what the government orders ISP's. And there prob

I didn't downvote, but... It's actually pretty irritating that discussion of any project not hosted on GH gets "Why not Github?" question, every single f-ing time. I hope this will end, together with LinkedIn invites.

Just out of curiosity, HN seems like a good place to ask: Does anyone actually here use unix-likes in a multiseat fashion, like they were used 30-40 years ago? Like described here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multise

Even that 4.5MB doesn't seem particularly small to me. Podkicker Pro, Android podcast client takes 2.15MB on my phone. App itself take 792KB, and feed metadata takes 1.38MB.
