The parent comment was asking about root volumes for kubernetes nodes > Does Rook give you the equivalent of EBS root volumes for your nodes then? I think we are saying the same thing if i'm not mistaken?

Not directly, rook provides a storage backend for in-cluster workload persistent volumes. In theory you could manage kvm machines with kubevirt and back the machines with PVCs from rook. I have not tried this and would be curious how the pe

KIND uses kubeadm which is the upstream standard for bootstrapping. It also supports multi masters and even launches a haproxy load balancer for kube-apiserver! K3S uses it's own bootstrapping, as well as non upstream binaries. It also

2C/4G is hardly "beefy". If that is too much to run then use the quay.io service and not worry about self hosting your registry?

I certainly see where you are coming from, bit I feel a lot of it depends on your domain. Many of the tools are not meant for common development-centric use cases. If platform is your focus it's a very exciting time! If a project is ig

What are you using Docker for specifically? What specific issues are seeing on macOS and Windows?. There are alternative container runtimes but they still require linux, and none have the integrated developer experience that docker has acro

My opinion: you shouldn't need to manually tag anything because it should be done automatically via your ci/cd. With that said, in some cases deploying everything this way is not realistic. I have always admired Netflix's &qu

Free as in you pay for your worker nodes, but nothing additional for operating the platform itself. You do lose control over your control plane nodes and etcd however.

U.2 all the way. It's hot swappable and much easier to manage than M.2 tucked away under a GPU. Epyc systems support up to 24(!) of them.

Are there any other technologies or domains that interest you? Perhaps spend your free time learning more about them and practicing. When you are comfortable you can then try to pivot to a role that uses those.

Not too familiar with Nix, but can't you run different window managers? I know you can install and use Pantheon (Elementary's WM) on Arch: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pantheon
