Had to look this one up. Apparently the answer is he was a rich *hole who murdered a student, got fined £80 (which might have been a lot of money, but he was rich), stayed away from Oxford a few years and then The Powers That Be told everyo

Select doesn’t have to return IEnumerable. A struct that exposes the same methods will work. So allocate-free foreach is very possible.

When we say that extremists hate our freedom, bear in mind this is the one of the kinds of freedom they hate. To win against these people, we have to be better than them and stop providing them with recruitment material for the next generat

It would be absolutely shocking if the US managed to mess up its incredible lead in scientific research. But like all things, it is the product of a consistent policy environment. If that environment changes, one day people will be writing

> Trump will not. People said that the last time he was elected. Be wary of treating him as an aberration. He’s not magic, he’s exactly what people voted for. What makes you think they won’t vote for the same again with a new face?

Always great to see more people who love the Barbican as much as I do. A gloriously inventive space that feels like it comes from an alternate timeline. There’s also an integrated complex including a theatre housing the RSC, a concert hall

I’ve had people complain that, and I kid you not, my answer was obviously answered by combining the content of two specific pages in different reference books. Which, honest to God, made me wonder what _was_ a valid question.

In general terms, whatever the subject, you can bet the Catholic Church has people that have thought deeply about it. Doesn’t you have to agree with them, but it’s a far cry from the kind of anti-intellectualism so beloved of the “evangelic

I’ve seen Americans in Westminster Abbey puzzled and faintly outraged that Charles Darwin is buried there. It’s true that later in life he moved away from his faith, but did so privately and even then his main issue was the problem of suffe

This reminds me of the joke that a programmer would regard writing a function like "LaunchMissilesOnMoscow()" as unethical, and would insist on refactoring it to "LaunchMissilesOn(City city)".

A good way of thinking about this is: consider the case where the data in question is illegal. Could you get into trouble for not only having access to it but also making copies of it? There’s plenty of case law there…
