I'd agree the P/E isn't the be all and end all of company valuations and I think you make valid points. I think whats more odd is that the article's argument starts out with something that I see as more of a straw man argument. I think if

"Apple (14 P/E), Google (18 P/E), eBay (16 P/E), Yahoo (17 P/E)" Those are some nicely cherry picked examples of mature companies that have been around for a Silicon Valley century. But I don't think the bubble involves mature tech compani

I think we really need to talk about what innovation means because its liberally thrown around everywhere these days. Taking the more conservative meaning of innovation... The internet is an innovation in itself - but what is being built o

Its also very unlikely you'll stumble into a windfall founding or working for a startup. Its something some may not want to hear but from a purely financial perspective of startup vs corp, 99% of cases it is always going to be financially

It may be poor reasoning but my vote is on the web (html/css/js/etc). Why? because it seems to be the only thing that has stuck around in the past. Over the past 20 years we've seen the "web" gobble up all sorts of client side platforms -

Any observation/opinion is based on a collection of anecdotes. Studies are fine but I don't think they are needed to express an opinion on an internet board.

"Learn to program" is probably going to be a repeated answer here but I'm not so sure this attitude is going to be doing any good. Enticing people into technical professions that do not have the inclination is not going to make things much

That may be true and they could have out of this world potential but I can't think of any sector or business model where a P/S ratio of 4000 is anywhere close to sane.

I think your end point is a key point. If you are in a situation to do so, skip the BMW/big house etc and shoot for more financial independence - by that I mean just having some savings to make you comfortable as a first step. It will vas
