I've been meaning to try out Notion. It looks neat, but do you still end up just having essentially a document full of links to your various assets/creative/notes in progress? Or do you actually embed your documents from ot

That makes sense. Sometimes we still do that for more technical projects like backend services. But often it's a project manager or a designer or a researcher adding meeting notes, or recordings of usability testing sessions, etc, and

Ask HN: How do you keep track of links/docs/assets relating to a project?

I mourned the loss of the whiteboard when we moved to distributed teams in ~2012 or so. We turned to Google docs and Hangouts, but it's nowhere near the same in terms of flexibility / resolution / efficiency.

We've been using Plectica[1] for this type of stuff and finding it to be downright awesome. [1]: https://plectica.com

I always like to mix in some false positives when completing Google's captchas. I identify yellow cars as school buses, occluded street signs as storefronts, valleys as rivers... They still let you in, up to a point. It probably just

This is wonderful news. Spiro splines are very cool, but I never considered them a real option for any projects I was working on because of the licensing issue. Hobby splines were the patent unencumbered next best choice as far as I could

I love the vision, but there are some pretty sizable hurdles not so easy to clear. Dynamic IPs, ports blocked by over zealous ISPs, bandwidth throttling, power redundancy, etc, etc...

That is a clever method for embedding, and I like the minimal syntax. We've been using Plectica[1] for these sorts of diagrams and finding it to be pretty great. Not sure if they support export to svg out of the box yet though. [1]: h

The ability to have arbitrarily deep nesting along with the efficient and information-dense visual organization make this look pretty interesting. Trello is just too simple to capture the complexity in any project of reasonable size, and JI

I've been using this for brainstorming/planning and mostly loving it. There's a little bit of a learning curve, and some things I wish it did differently... But we are using it more and more instead of shared Google docs &#

I made a diagram of the way I think about it here: https://plectica.com/m/ADUNN80H4 When you map it out like this, the answer seems obvious that the place to invest your time is in learning the standards.

Affirmative. It's not just that there are advanced application frameworks like React and Angular -- it's also that browsers are more standards compliant, and standard APIs have evolved in recent years to cover much of the gap tha

Plectica https://www.plectica.com can make beautiful, intricate, interactive diagrams that clearly convey technical infrastructure. Also nice that collaboration is real time like Google Docs, and so it's easy to keep updat
