Have you tried some of the free lancing websites like oDesk? While it probably doesn't completely solve your problem, it will give you some real world production experience. You might have to low ball some offers though.

I agree with your "Why not?" point. If you are already in college and plan to do 4 years, you might as well get a cs degree. For me it was too late to switch majors when I found out how much I loved programming. And it really wasn

Honestly it comes down to motivation. Whether or not you get a cs degree you have to super motivated and hard working to achieve greatness.

Yeah most dev jobs are flexible about when you come in as long as you work hard and make the meetings. I am shocked he sent you home for the day. That is crazy. And don't get me wrong I am really annoyed by people who are late.

I definitely think it should be taught. If taught correctly, I believe it could really excite children about school. Plus it just offers so many benefits even to kids that won't become programmers like problem solving, critical thinkin

Wow. I really thought that screen shot was from IE8 or IE9. I didn't know they still had their back and forward arrows like that. It looks so bad in my opinion. I had to downgrade to IE9 at work for certain tasks and mine looks the sam

You could try out some of the online freelance websites. My friend has had some good success web dev finding work on elance.

Everyone building a different app is a good idea depending on how far along they are. But early on I would have them make the same or a similar app.

Focus on helping them to build stuff and answering their own questions. Yes that other stuff is important, but unrealistic in a bootcamp. They need to leave being able to build something.
