It is possible that the transaction log's last entry contains a value that is not yet considered 'committed' at large, as per the paper. This transaction needs to be confirmed later on when an additional transaction comes and

I personally still prefer to use rebar. If you want to make building a release with relx part of rebar, use a compile hook: {post_hooks,[{compile, "./relx"}]}. in your rebar.config.

I forgot to replace one of the commas with an 'andalso'. There's no reason to have it as a guard. It's too late to edit now, though.

- it might be easier to start your app with `application:ensure_all_started(erl2048)`. If your dependencies are well set in your app file, this will boot all dependencies for you. - Given you've already compiled, you don't need th

The way I see it, arrays and binaries start a 0 because they represent an offset . Others start at 1 because they represent a position (first, second, third, ...) instead. For the function and argument orders, there's no explanation

Printf debugging and its equivalents is something that can be done in all languages. I use it in Erlang too from time to time in dev. What makes it win is how easy it is to use. What makes it lose is how tedious and manual it is. And how it

You're right, I've been fooled by Firebug merging in multiple identical output lines together and missed the (2) it had put on the right hand side of the screen. That makes a lot more sense.

Pretty much. Javascript has the same scoping rules for functions used as expressions: var f = function fac(n) { if (n==0) { return 1; } else {return fac(n-1)*n; } }; console.log(f(3)); console.log(fac(3)); This will log &#x

The syntax would actually be: fun Fac(0) -> 1; Fac(N) -> N*Fac(N-1) end Note that the name `Fac` is not visible outside of the fun's scope, and to use the same variable name outside, you still need to bind it: F =

I'd have to say your idea of supervisors misses the point. Supervised processes provide guarantees in their initialization phase, not a best effort. This means that they are always restarted to a known stable state. It's not jus

You know that maps as envisioned in the EEP ( http://www.erlang.org/eeps/eep-0043.html ) should let you do pattern matching using variables, right? It's not there now because it's a provisional implementation

Maps literally have a module definition that ends up being similar to dicts if you want to swap them in directly. You can know a data structure's keys in advance while still having it dynamic and not a record: proplists, key/val l

That is actually good in my opinion, because of how static records are expected to be in structure. You shouldn't be able to reload or proceed with data dating from an earlier version as if nothing happened. You have to think about wha

The irony is rather that the excuse they provide is that they want to verify people's identity to prevent abuse, but then openly recommend using a fake identity to log on.

Erlang applications get versions, and you can specify them when you build releases, which are the Erlang's way of packaging self-executables, through a mechanism that is platform independent. The thing is, Erlang assumes that things wo
