We've had that tech for decades, it's what France's infrastructure is built on. The US doesn't like it because you end up with plutonium doing that. It's contrary to their geopolitical/non-proliferation goals

It's a dos holdover implemented in the win32 side of things in user space. I'm pretty sure it still exists on win11. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/40794287/cannot-write-to...

It'd be interesting to know what happened there. I would have expected the pad hard block on that mature of a process to be pretty hard to mess up. Too bad hard blocks like that are almost certainly wrapped in so much NDA that we won&

Having looked into it, there's some circumstantial evidence that it was a variation of feynman's path integrals, which is sort of a technique for summing fields representing all of the possible pathways possible in an interaction

If anything I think the sanctions encourage China to make domestic competitors for what they're cut off from. And it's not like they're new to this field, chinese nationals almost certainly were among those that contributed t

Honestly this is way closer to a conventional Rust environment than the kernel gives you. In the kennel external crates are pretty much verboten, large chunks of alloc are verboten, no panicking is allowed, etc.

This is a very similar environment to the Linux kernel, and most of what this blog post suggests applies to Rust in Linux.

It wasn't In-Q-Tel; but it was still essentially the CIA. Signal received millions in funding from the Open Technology Fund, an investment wing of Radio Free Europe, an organization founded as a CIA propaganda front. https:/

Svnapot is a poor solution to the problem. On one hand it means that that each page table entry takes up half a cache line for the 16KB case, and two whole cache lines in the 64KB case. This really cuts down on the page walker hardware
