Then why are you surprised that a podcast/book about economics represents the dominant academic view of economics?

And as further evidence, this idea was already tried in the Soviet Union and it did not produce benevolent leaders free from human failings.

Instead of classifying everything on a line to rhetorically suggest that you are objectively in the middle, recognize that there is a broad landscape of social, cultural, and economic positions. Trump in fact acts contrary to most recommend

Having a world view where you identify engineering with good, and finance with bad - to the extent that if someone is bad you reclassify them under finance, is also not healthy.

In nginx config you can pretty easily cache web pages or API responses. I would also like to know how far that goes. Also does anyone like memcached anymore? When I compared with Redis in the past it appeared more simple.

> The headline of a news article is a way to draw the reader in. Yes, I think that’s where the “bait” characterization comes from.

That sounds like a separate concern than the one implied by the headline.

Excess exists in the system - in the sense that we have more economic goods than subsistence. And I agree - it’s questionable how much economic progress has been made in 50 years. But now to Thiel’s point. Most people don’t actually believe

I am aware but without a spec we don’t know which is which. You can’t say it has no undefined behavior because what happens is you try to specify it and find gaps or challenges. In C undefined is used primarily when there is not a reliable

I’m not saying reputation doesn’t exist. I’m questioning how much his time in South Africa is influential compared to all the other influential experiences he writes about. I think this comment wants to say he’s some form of he’s a racist

Why are you casting it only in material terms? Freedom and a good life is also what other people want. Rich people don’t fight over cars, they fight over Harvard acceptance for their kids, or play in the Olympics, etc. Our political system

Yeah I agree it’s not new at all. > and the media has to be unbiased for people to make good decisions In other words the media holds the power. And we need them to be responsible and not use that power. That’s a fragile system.

That’s great - you personally have found a tool that helps you overcome unknown problems. Other people have other methods for doing that. Maybe AI makes that more accessible in general.

If blogs, ads, and telegram channels can overturn elections then isn’t that a bad sign for democracy as an idea? That would imply rule of media rather than decision making citizens.

Yep. All the process in the world won’t teach you to make a system that works. The pattern I see over and over is a team aimlessly putting a long through tickets in sprints until an engineer who knows how to solve the problem gets it on tra
