This is really great advice. I'll have to talk to potential first customers and maybe even just ask them "how do you want to pay" to see how much of a priority this is to get rolling. Thanks!

This looks really, really useful to boaters. I'm not a boater at all, but I am a hobbyist pilot that flies maybe once a month on small trips. I frequently use Foreflight ( http://www.foreflight.com/ ) for navigation, pla

The section right under this is great, sums up the basics. The only part I'm getting at is that you have to scroll to see it.

Are you associated with Rightmove at all? I couldn't find an API on their site. If not, how are you planning on monetizing this? You've got what appears to be quite a large team for a product that mentions nothing on pricing or &q

Is that $20/mo per app? I'm assuming if you had your own domain Docker will not be covering the DNS registry and such, effectively making it $30/mo to host a low-traffic app landing page. Honestly, I'm not sure that I wo

Really curious about this. Building landing pages and such is the biggest pain the ass for me when I just want to build a fun app (usually a side project) and launch it. I hate the idea of every site looking the same, so I really hope you i

The agency I work at would likely never take a revenue share. I wouldn't take one either, personally, unless the product was something I would be satisfied seeing no return on. Unless the client was someone with a proven track record,

Excellent points. I guess we'll have to see how this rides and if it is sustainable in the future. I love what I do currently and don't wish for change, but I'm sure my feelings and interests will evolve as technology and the

Most of us missed the gold rush. That is long gone. The real money in creating apps is in agency work for clients. I don't think that Agant wasn't profitable, I think that they just didn't like the work they were doing. edit:

Niches for creating your own apps? Or making niche apps for a client? Since I was advocating client work in my previous post, I'll go with the latter. Start with what you love. As an example I love aviation. There's a lot of money

Could not agree more with you. I'd further suggest that creating apps for clients is incredibly profitable. You don't necessarily need sales on apps to make money. Businesses, organizations, and people have problems that they are

This is really sad to me because I aspire to run my own shop just like this one day, creating apps and software for ourselves and clients. I too see myself as a maker, not a business developer, so maybe this is a red flag to reevaluate. Mos

I'd be curious why you'd recommend an AppleTV over a lightning-HDMI adapter. When we demo our iPad apps the direct connection is perfect. Spotty, shared wifi can hurt Airplay sometimes (and yes, it is awful that it uses a Wifi con

I actually prefer doing all of the design and drawing myself and avoid things like NIBs and Storyboard. It's not really difficult, just takes time to absorb all that there is because there is so much customization you can do. And watch

This is my thought as well. Even at his previous $20-30/day seems quite reasonable. If the author could keep that sustainable, that's adding nearly $10k/year in passive income, definitely not a figure to shy away from. If add

My free app is seeing about 500 downloads/day. When it was featured in the "New & Noteworthy" it was about 1500/day. However my IAP conversion is holding at about 2% which, to me, is quite bad. Another thing to point

It becomes much easier over time. I'm at a point where I could certainly accomplish this, especially now with great projects like CocoaPods. Experienced web developers can create a simple CMS lightyears faster than I can, its all relat

I've come to the conclusion, after my latest release, to just make apps that I will use everyday (aka quit dogfooding), not spend a dime on marketing, and release them for $3-5. I just want to make things that people will actually get some

I'm not sure I'm understanding the point of this tool. It looks trendy, but it takes notes. No syncing. I mean, this is the guy that wrote NetNewsWire. Wouldn't an app like this be doable in a weekend? I honestly want to find something new

I'm attempting to create a podspec, but the script/bootstrap part stuck me. Not sure if Cocoapods has capabilities to do that. Would be nice to just strip out all of the submodule parts and include the dependencies.
