I absolutely hate what’s going on here with YT, but I think I’d rather have a company making bad decisions on its own than having bad decisions mandated by fiat. A law demanding that YT keep particular content up is at least as distasteful

I didn’t see any security features mentioned… am I the only one a wee bit terrified? Am I just paranoid?

Good point! I’ve been excited to see where light field tech leads on the practical side of things. If indeed they’re able to overcome the resolution limitations using AI assist then this is a great step forward!

Very cool. I do always wonder with projects like this that rely heavily on proprietary software, what happens if a few years down the road the company folds? Now do I have a fancy brick to mount on my camera? I was hoping to see a more expl

I laughed at the Docker joke in the article, I specifically learned Docker to steer clear of dependency hell in Python. It’s overkill but has kept my box clean and relatively portable. At the end of the day no tool is perfect and Python is

I don’t doubt that diet soda is terrible for you. I would however like to point out that the particular study cited had 74 participants. This seems a bit low but to me, though I realize it may not be the only study showing some similar effe

I clicked sort of expecting to see an article about the book by this title, about web page design. What I found instead was rather ironic in that context!

Call me a negotiation noob if you like, but despite the clickbait I found this article to be concise but useful.A far cry from comprehensive but still seems like a few solid pieces of advice.

Yes. Sometimes science seems silly for confirming things we think we already know. But if we don’t confirm them scientifically (especially when the stakes are high) we aren’t much better off than the magically-minded folk… Also, vaccine eff

I wonder what this means for data centers hosting Mac Minis? I know that’s a bit of a silly thing for some people to imagine but the reality is there are thousands of the intel minis out there deployed in data centers headless. That’s a lot

Abstraction exists for a reason. It comes with trade-offs. Often they are worth it. To me, abstracting the DB layer seems like a no-brainer so often but I’ll admit that may be a bias due to getting minor heartburn when dealing with the DB l

Safari on iOS does NOT like this page. I was pretty excited to look at some low-contrast examples to mock in that top slider graphic, but the dang page keeps auto-scrolling me past it. Glass houses and all that...

Good point, while I find this tool pretty laughable, I would strongly prefer this approach to a top-down approach on each and every platform, protecting us delicate users from the wild animals of the internet. If people wish to stop up thei
