I really like this. It took me a minute to figure out that having GitHub in dark mode was making the embedded math images effectively invisible. Just in case this trips anyone else up, switching to light mode will make this doc make a lot m

That's neat. I wonder if the pupil is actually changing size, or if it's the changing shape of the lens that is making it appear so. If you look into a camera lens as the focus is changed, the inner parts of the camera do appear t

On behalf of patients, we're sorry! The first time I had an MRI, my tech told me over the speaker that I was moving around too much. I was really surprised as I'd thought I was staying completely still! I had another one more rece

We're currently in the process of designing a house that we hope to build early next year. One thing that I dream of doing is lighting the entire house with LEDs wired in a low voltage DC "network." Even better if they'r

Seeing the whole process from sketch to completed icon was extremely helpful. It can be extremely daunting to look at the polished works of art that are completed designs; I get the feeling that they sprang fully formed into the world. I&#x

Hi :) Thanks for the awesome write-up. I understand...I have a few devices in my house that resist all attempts at integration. I have considered doing something totally ridiculous like setting up a Raspberry Pi with a camera and machine vi

This is cool. But it seems to me that this person's setup could benefit from a way for the computers to be notified that battery power would run out soon so that they could shut down cleanly. I have that going at home through a USB con

I like Workflowy but the core feature of this app (infinite progress rollups) is not present in Workflowy. I find that Workflowy barely works as a task progress tracker because it doesn't have any real native support for that workflow

Sorry, no, that's not the argument I was trying to make. I was trying to show this by starting the sentence with "Coincidentally." It was just a separate observation about the same topic. I am frustrated by plenty of things t

I would compare this to a supermarket allocating shelf space to maximize its profits, either by placing its own brands front and center or by featuring brands that have made a deal for prime shelf placement. I don't see this as scandal

I feel the same way. There's a scene in the book Old Man's War by John Scalzi which drives this point home in a way that has really stuck with me.

Tesla's cars have a charge limit you can set, after which the car simply stops. I believe they come by default at 90%. You're supposed to override it if you want to go on a long road trip. Would be cool if there was a similar feat
