In logistics, there is 3PL, third party logistics where you outsource your warehouse. Are there similar things for datacenters? Also, if it existed, would that differ from general cloud providers?

Perhaps Github? It is not social media as such, but technically it could be used as such. A kind of "intent hacking". A repo = subreddit. Issues = posts with comments. Regardless, I think I will spend more time there, since I have

I had no idea that "tourists" visited Titanic. Is this the new thing after Everest became crowded?

Yeah the likelyhood it happens to me is tiny indeed. But it happens to some people and I have wondered how they get access to their money to pay for lawyers etc.

Another kind of file could be : "if I am wrongly imprisoned in an oppressive dictatorship" The difference is that I don't know how you can access your money in a situation like this. Can a file help here?

It may not be hard at all. Knowledge may be preserved because civilization has preserved it in books and/or memory.

It is not an argument to not do it. But it is an argument that it is not only geological forces the storage must contend with.

Since the fuel will be encased in copper, and copper is quite valuable, I see a future, some centuries or millenia from now, where people will try to steal it, without realizing the dangers associated. With bad side effects as consequence.

Knowledge is valuable. Just knowing you could fix this gives you confidence next time when something else breaks. But I also think it has an intrinsic value. It just feels good to learn. Compared with just, for example, entertainment, I usu

It wouldn't be _that_ hard. It would not meet the bar for true democracy but accounts older than X months with a karma > Y and more than Z comments could be eligible to vote for example.

As a lowly redditor I feel this has become a fight between a nomenclatura of moderators and Reddit. The moderators believe they are taking the rightful fight, but as far as I am concerned, they they don't represent a community since th

It is a thought-provoking analogy. To take it further, would Reddit be like a shopping mall, and the apps would be the shops and the moderators be the sales staff? Or would the subreddits be the shops, and the apps be ... yes what would the

Perhaps they don't but it puzzles me why. With the suggested approach they would have mutual interest in making 3rd party apps flourish. Now they alienate the community and will certainly drive many people away.

Yes. But Red Hat, Fedora, openSUSE, SLE, Arch, Alpine, Slackware, Gentoo, NixOS are not. I have a hard time to think these represent less than 10 percent all together

Someone here in HN suggested that what Reddit should have done is to make API acccess a benefit of a Reddit premium account. That way Reddit would directly collect money from app users and would not have to rely on app developers to do it,

So many videos seem mostly to be about to showcase the presenter's keyboard shortcut skills. It is annoying to see them type away in an improvised fashion. I prefer more structure and a coherent story being told.

There is a USP and it is very strong. If you are a government organisation, you don't have many clouds to chose from, given the legislative situation. It is a greenfield basically. I am surprised not more people have seen it.
