Have you ever worked on Mac? Basically there is no such a thing like "installation" on MacOS. PC users usually don't believe it until they see it themselves. Simplicity requires some effort and thinking, and on the contrary, it is relativel

Oh yes, I know ;) but I wouldn't say it is much less verbose than the first example in terms of the number of words used, and besides, it's Microsoft's tutorial, i.e. it's how they teach novice programmers to program in C#.

Good point. And I think the number one killer of desktop applications is Microsoft, however controversial it may seem at first. It was Microsoft who convinced developers that a commercial application along with its installation procedure mu

I use similar approach, and yes, it works fine as long as spammers don't figure how to extract your email address from JavaScript code. function em(e2, e1) { return 'mailto:' + e1 + '@' + e2 + '.com'; } ... and somewhere in your HTML code

Objects viewed as miniauture modules can be useful, provided that your modules have states (i.e. static data). The only alternative to this approach would be not having states at all, which is not impossible but may be trickier to implement

Don't you think it's actually a question of semi-chaos vs. order (OOP being the "order" side of it)? Intergalactic Object Models will never rule this industry for the same reason as why Google Directory prooved to be useless and was removed

Bob seems to be right (as usual). The moral of his story: don't try to buy up 50,000 painters and keep them under one roof, that's just disastrous.

Worrying _too_ much about language efficiency when it comes to web programming is clearly a case of premature optimisation. Well, sometimes it's a question of a choice between upgrading your hardware and optimizing your code (or even re-w

For how long will people believe Bayesian filtering stops spam? It's just a cute theorem that in no way can compete with human intelligence. Or do you think some probability calculations can outsmart a spammer?

A commonly misspelled word can't automatically become "correct", because there is always some etymology behind a word and it doesn't allow you to mess with it. "Ridiculous" is of Latin origins, for example.

Music itself is an abstract language indeed, but over time it developed so much that composers were able to express human feelings, emotions, as well as create associations with natural phenomena. One such example is Vivaldi's Four Seasons
