Well, expect some EU regulations around that. All I was saying was that the reason Apple added these tricks wasn't (only) unrepairability but more anti-theft. I don't want to defend their decision though.

Interesting. The flip side of this is that it's probably a good anti-theft measure. You can't steal an Apple laptop for repair parts anymore. As someone who has repaired MBP's in the past, I'm not a big fan of unrepairab

From my experience of constantly using both, Signal's UX is inferior unfortunately. On both macOS and iOS Signal feels like a second grade cross-platform app with a clunky Android feel (no ribbon effect, no animations, poor aesthetics)

Wouldn't "user replaceable" make it more expensive? Besides I can't even imagine an iPhone that can be easily opened by anyone, stay water resistant and "Apple-y" at the same time...

Where you see higher taxes it means you get something for free. Typically it's healthcare and/or education. With comparable living standards the spending per person is roughly the same, the question is who is paying and how. I.e.

Agreed, was also disappointed. Apart from a poorly constructed shallow story, the black and white parts were quite off-putting. The whole point of this film was playful van Gogh-esque colors and his signature strokes. Whose idea was it to h

Does an OS upgrade remove this malware though? Maybe it doesn't and it's why so many phones were infected.

Even that is not a problem. Tooling and deployment are the most boring parts of any language. What's more interesting and what's more difficult to find shortcuts for is understanding the spirit of the language, knowing its weaknes

I find that in larger GUI apps the best thing to have is a layered architecture where visual and non-visual parts are separated globally, not on a view-by-view basis. One advantage of this is that you can slice off your visual part and have
