Objective-C's OO model is far more dynamic than you may realize. There're no guarantees even on the object reference type at run time, i.e. that the method you are calling will be applied to an object of a specific type or compati

Always wondered about this too, but there doesn't seem to be a way of knowing which implementation your code will end up calling in Objective-C. "Final" would be helpful but there's no "final" in the language.

I find that letting search engines index your content and then paywalling it an unfair practice. The linked article, for example, is entirely googlable but not readable (try to google a phrase from the bottom of the article). Let alone it&#

I think Apple knows this perfectly. I'm not even sure whether the "I'll wait for the S upgrade" people (myself included) outsmart Apple or it's Apple who created the market for those who want to feel smarter than

I think an interesting question is, if the developers of Perl 6 knew from the beginning that they are essentially designing a new language with a new identity, would their new language be different and to what extent?

Exactly, especially if the bouncer comes to work for you for free. Which is what Google and Facebook analytics platforms do: they are free because they benefit from the collected information in ways beyond your control.

The problem with belly-up charging is that it's ridiculous quite literally. Maybe usable, but ridiculous, that is all. I think a docking/charging station for the mouse would be more elegant and nice to have, though more expensive

As another extreme, Turbo Pascal's earlier implementations had only one pass. Just straight from Pascal to binary code with some optimizations too. I wonder what the minimum number of passes could be by today's optimization standa
