I would like to recommend Ben Krasnow of Applied Science[0]. His videos are more physics/chemistry/electronics, but they're both great YouTubers. [0] https://www.youtube.com/user/bkraz333

I don't think there is any compartment with pressure above atmospheric, but the passage quoted from the article does make it seem that way, hence the confusion. I think the pneumatic grabber creates a sealed region of less-than-atmosph

That's a good question! I think you're correct that if the increase in external pressure were uniform around the whole egg, it would not push fluid out of the pinhole. Looking at this 2020 video[0], it seems like the procedure mig

I don't know if the USA is representative of the rest of the world in this regard but, with respect to drinking, American adults fall into deciles that surprised me[1]. Roughly 40% consumed almost no alcohol in the week before being su

A text is written on a scientific topic and it is so poorly written that when people read it, they cry. Can we harvest the kinetic energy in those falling teardrops and turn it into electricity? Yes. (But it is not very much energy.)

I assume that conclusion is drawn because of how much lower the right shoulder is. A physical therapist told me that the shoulder of the dominant hand tends to be a bit lower. It's probably not common knowledge, but patternmakers and t

Exactly! Maybe my initial comment should have emphasized the relative significance of reasons for preferring X-ray CT over MRI in an emergency: 1) Speed. 2) Depiction of bone (less relevant if it's not a trauma case with suspected brok

Maybe. MRI is not the preferred brain imaging modality in emergency situations, X-ray computed tomography is. Consider patients who are unconscious (or awake but unreliable) due to head trauma, stroke, etc. You can't do a proper MR saf

The quantization of light is going to be a serious limit. The detector elements of a camera could be made pretty sensitive, but they can't detect fewer than one photon. In NLOS (and traditional photography) the scene to be imaged is il

Thanks for the insight! I wonder if ability to resist creep[0] has ever been much of a goal when formulating wire insulation. Or is this "plastic flow" a different phenomenon than creep? For installations that are intended to be l

Very nice! This reminds me a bit of Michael Fogleman's 3D Line Art Engine [0]. His project was motivated by a desire to make vector art for a pen plotter, so not quite the same goals. I appreciate how you've woven together images,

Farms tend to be lived on. When a farm is lost, it's not just the family business going, but the longtime family home and maybe recreation area. I'd think it's more emotionally negative than the closure of the family mine, st

Pneumatic artificial muscles were inspired by human anatomy and apparently invented way back in the 1950s [1]. When I read about them in the late 1990s, they sounded interesting, but I don't think I've ever seen them in person. It
