I hate backbone. Lots of boilerplate and everyone I see a set("field",value) I die a little inside. Also, everything of any size I've seen written in backbone turned into an unmaintainable mess.

How can there an "inability to meet demand" on a product that hasn't been released yet? Or right, that isn't possible. Once it is released then we can talk about the rate of mfg vs backlog but it is pure silliness to ar

The kernel isn't that import but all the software that depends on it and the win32 libs is. There is lots of software that is w32 only, more then enough to keep windows around for years.

Adding properties would just make the language MORE complex. Then you would have fields, getters/setters AND properties. That said, a "property" keyword that auto-generated default getters/setters would be nice. This

Yes. And Spring is a large part of the of the reason, not the solution. Every time you see somebody making fun of Java for AbstractSingletonProxyFactoryBean and its like they are actually making fun of Spring, not Java. Btw, that is a real

The distinction isn't very clear. As you say J2ee is just a collection of libraries, of which Spring web services happen to use a subset of.Servlets/JAX-RS off the top of my head. Of course Spring doesn't leverage ALL of J2e

# 3. Java EE is legacy tech. While deeply entrenched, most of the work out there for it today consists of maintenance or migration to more service-friendly approaches like Spring or Dropwizard. While I mostly agree with you, Spring _IS_ J2e

The argument is NOT one of priorities. It is that if you go for too much realism, then you have have to start making things real instead of fun. Example from the article: Run speed in Doom is stupid high which is fun and seems normal, but

This. I've done mob programming a lot and it always seems to break down into either a few developers working while explaining what they are doing to others or a developer just typing what other devs tell them to type. It does work well

Sadly, it seems that most of the java devs who created these monstrosities learned the wrong lessons. As far as I can tell they seem to think total lines of code was the real issue (It couldn't be the Abstractions/Patterns, those
