I'm much happier with jdk 1.5 than I was with 1.4 or 1.3 or 1.2 etc.... Not sure why you don't like the new additions. In general you don't have to use them if you don't want to.

There was a reference to the Russian helicopters windshields not being bulletproof in Afghanistan in a sci-fi or geek-y book I read a few years ago. I haven't seen Rambo III, so I know it's not that:) Possibly a Neal Stephenson book? Not

Eh, no worse than the Russian Mi-24 which had a heavily armored cockpit, but the tail could be easily damaged by small arms. People will find a way, intentionally or not, around your defensive design. True for code and military engineering

Mark is partners with Jason on one of the startups Mark is involved with (it says that on his profile), so it stands to reason he reads Jason's blog a lot. Don't need to be a conspiracy.

Many hackers would probably find car maintenance/repair a very satisfying hobby. I find working on cars/motorcycles to be very similar to writing applications, only with the added bonus of being tangible and real. You don't necessarily hav

Built 10MinuteMail.com to learn Seam. The site now gets over 100,000 hits/day. Started Sparkred.com and have been profitable while competing against much larger established players. Built a woodshed that didn't fall over from the snow last

I said "mostly". I also use it in my dining room, my media room, out on my back deck, in my yard, at the local coffee shop, on planes (way too much), at client sites, in hotels, at friends houses, at my mom's house, in the car, and so on.

A noble goal, but it seems very unlikely. Shifting Fortune 1000 companies or large recruiting firms to use a whole new system would be an amazingly unlikely and long-time framed change. Best of luck if that's your goal though, it would be

I use my laptop mostly indoors in my home office with controlled lighting. The glossy screen looks better, deeper blacks, more vibrant colors, etc... While I wouldn't use it for photo or pre-press work, I really like it in general.

I think a Word export would be key here. Many large firms and recruiting agencies require you to provide Word format resumes and have large internal systems and processes based on Word documents.
