True but AFAIK no other countries are spending their tax money providing food aid to the USA? I agree our own poverty situation is awful, but honestly that's another reason to not be spending tax money the US International Food Aid Program.

Depends on your pool. Small companies need to be absolutely brutal about only hiring the best people, with the best skills, and the best fit for the company. I went to a local university career fair looking for two different junior level

Better lenses are fixed aperture though, so I don't think it's unreasonable to replicate that here. My 24-70 is 2.8 across the board.

I disagree. People who are paying $5/month have a much lower threshold before they leave than an enterprise paying $20,000/month. Also larger more expensive services tend to end up with more business integration and the cost of moving to

No joke. I know some LEO are very well trained, but I've shot alongside Boston PD and Seattle based Air Marshals and I was shocked at how bad of shots both groups were. And this is on the shooting range, without adrenaline/fear, etc... T

Why? Having money doesn't mean you should buy other companies, especially if you're DropBox and are kicking ass in your niche and not trying to branch out in a million directions. I've seen SO many acquisitions go wrong for both parties.

They're cutting some of the fat off, but they just dropped 1 billion dollars on the ATG product and are pushing it pretty hard and Oracle doesn't have anything that's a real competitor in the space. It'll get renamed as Siebel Commerce or

The problem is that if you spend 6-12 months training people you've got WAY more costs to recoup than a normal contracting firm so you'd have to take a higher percentage off the top. The rates would be higher for the niche so the take home

Plus it's pretty easy to saturate a 1 Gbit NIC with even a pretty close to OOTB Apache setup. You might burn 5-10% more CPU than if you were using nginx, but it's not that big a deal in 99% of the use cases.

Until Oracle bought ATG it was basically impossible. But Oracle has made ATG available for download, including documentation, to anyone, without needed a million dollar support agreement. You can't run a production site for free obviously

There are many niche skill sets out there where the demand far exceeds the currently supply, and as such hourly rates from $100/hour (lower level) to $200+/hour (architect level) are quite common and you really can pick your job/location/wo

So say 50 elements. With a 50ms difference that's 2.5 seconds of total time. Most browsers will do 2-4 simultaneous connections, so let's say 4, that's still over 1/2 second faster page load. Now put that end user in Europe or Africa, an

A good CDN provides "close" (network latency wise) servers so if there are 30 assets to be loaded, most are done over a 10 ms hop, not a 60 ms hop. Get a complex page with 100+ assets, or try to serve it to another continent and the differ
