Unrelated to the post, but I hope you guys are all doing okay out there. I have a huge amount of respect and appreciation for the level of commitment you have for your customers, despite these horrific circumstances. Stay safe!

Surprised no one's mentioned the goggles search. I was pretty blown away to maximize an application on my desktop, snap a picture and have it recognize it (down to the version number, for Outlook 2010)

Id have to quote the entire post to give you an example. I just found it to be overly smug and condescending, especially regarding Microsoft store employees (attempting to "trap" one of them with the soundcard question? Nerd arrogance at

The entire tone of his post from the outset seemed like he really had an axe to grind. It was like reading an article Fox News would publish about an Obama rally.

It'd be a HELL of a lot cheaper and a MUCH faster transfer rate to mail a few really large capacity hard drives full of the data instead of hosting it on S3. edit: Just saw dalke's response. Great minds think alike!

No, but there are plenty of developers willing to build applications and then sell them for a dollar on the app store (or free even.)

For an excellent reference implementation of how a Metro style application should look, check out Microsoft's Azure site: http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/ Borrowing some of the css transitions, color scheme and typography from there wo

I'm still having a difficult time understanding why any user who has figured out how to hit the window key and start typing an application name would find browsing across oversized tiles to be a more efficient application launching experien

Well, for one; the site is basically an engine for rendering out <table><tr><td><a> ..., without much in the way of complex and frequent client-side requests. (this isn't to downplay the challenges faced by s

Design impaired developer here; i'm interested to know how you picked green as being a trigger for more conversions, is there some data with A/B testing this color choice comes from?

It's pretty annoying. Anything Apple does is "revolutionary" and "magical". Anything Microsoft does is seen as being bound to fail. Apple has definitely won the media messaging war.

The whole concept of "flip flopping" being a bad thing is something from the political arena that spilled out into a broader social context. There's absolutely nothing wrong with changing your mind as your understanding evolves.
