I can't read past the first page on my mobile. If the author collected stats, this would be both interesting and obvious.

In what way does a co-founder intending to stay with the company put its long-term commitment to paying customers at risk?

Wealth correlates with a lot of things, such as health and buying power. It's too large a stretch to say being able to buy things increases happiness. Perhaps just being wealthy enough to have good healthcare does it. Could be many things.

It's your life to lead in the way you choose. Are you happy living like this? It might not be as necessary as it feels. People rely on me; I work 36 hours a week. Amongst my friends and contacts most people do not work until they fall aslee

If it were real, names would have been changed to anonymize it. No search replace in those days, so it's an easy way for such a mistake to creep in. I still suspect it's a fictional or largely fictional piece though.

Lots of people use Dropbox just like this, without local backups. For many people I know, that's part of the point - versioning helps, too. It's certainly neither 'dumb' and nor is mentioning a friend who did this down-vote worthy.

Because when Ayn Rand was produced, Italy was not a democracy - it was under the fascist dictatorship of Mussolini.

I had the opposite experience yesterday. A colleague and I were tracking down a rare race condition that became more likely with more threads. A signal handler was being re-entered, which the man page suggested shouldn't happen because by d

I don't think Paul was postulating the existence of multiple (competing?) gods; Marcionism isn't especially relevant to his discussion.

The onscreen keyboard? Yes, if you want to create textual content on the iPad you really do need to use a bluetooth keyboard. Whether you prefer an iPad + keyboard to an all-in-one MacBook Air is a different matter, of course!

There's an important difference between being able to unobtrusively compromise a machine by appearing to use it normally and between opening up the case and removing the hard drive, something that attracts attention in almost any setting.

If you can, the very best way is simply immersion. Move to the country and live there. Live with people, make friends with them. Ask them to speak to you only in their native language. Listen to their music and watch their TV and films. Rea

I'm shocked and pleasantly surprised that js/canvas can putpixel fast enough for this. It must be around as fast as assembly on a 486! Part of me can't decide if that's awesome or tragic.

This is very impressive. I got further with this in fifteen minutes on my iPhone lying in bed than an hour last night with the Windows Phone 8 SDK. The APIs seem nicely designed and the interface works surprisingly well on a phone. I haven'

I don't think their target market for the Pro is the hobbyist, or Mom and Pa, it's the enterprise business market, where the iPad has seen little penetration. This market doesn't care if the kickstand works on your knee. Or about a few hund

This thought experiment is flawed. When you steal a car from the local dealer, he doesn't have the car any more. The correct thought experiment is: having bought a car from Ford, you examine it carefully then purchase all the raw materials

Although it might not invalidate your argument, you have ignored the residual value of having a 5-year old Model S / Nissan Leaf. We don't know what that will be, yet, but it will probably be higher than the residual value of a 14 year old

Programming is sadly still pretty much text-based. How many characters do you display on your monitor? Could you display as many with a smaller font on a smaller display? I don't think screen resolution is the bottleneck in information tran

The place of residence is almost certainly a taxation issue. Within the EU, an EU citizen pays tax in whichever country he is "ordinarily resident" in, which is (broadly) defined as the address in which he spends over 6 months of the year.

For EU citizens this is probably the same as "ordinarily resident", which broadly means having a UK address and spending over 6 months of the year at it.
