This is going to be one of those cases where the professor makes a well-nuanced detailed well-researched sympathetic statement, the press turns it into a headline that makes him sound like an insensitive clod, and everyone just reacts to th

No results for that search. Here is the full text of the article I see: The Great Resignation Movement is turning the US job market upside down. Around 4 million employees left their jobs in July 2021, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor

In fact, it doesn't look like anything is being resumed at all. He's switching to a different job sector, not resuming the old one.

Tell GIMP not to include the EXIF and XMP data (which doesn't get any smaller when you decrease the quality). Then tell it to use 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, and set the quality to 24 or so.

They'll ID you if you did something wrong . If not, for instance if they're randomly pulling over cars to check for drink driving and you're clean, then they don't need to ID you.

That's a fairly standard nearest neighbour search[0], usually made fast by using a kd-tree[1] or an R-tree[2]. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nearest_neighbor_search [1] https://en.wikipedia.org&#

It should be noted that the photographs that the news outlets use in the articles about supermarket shortages are mostly from last year. It's deceptive.

I use ZFS on my main computer, but it sends its backups to a tiny computer with two laptop USB drives plugged in, running Btrfs RAID-0. (The second drive was added when the first one filled up.) I did it that way because it's the secon

Typically in DF, you lose because of a hilarious sequence of events that overwhelms your fortress' capacity to cope, not through undocumented behaviour and bugs.

I bit this particular bullet a couple of months ago. Turns out that a very cheap board like an Arduino Nano Every has a power voltage regulator (that will accept 6-21V supply) and a built-in clock, so you don't need to integrate anythi

AIUI, Postgres rotates its WAL, so once something is acknowledged as having hit the storage, the WAL entry referring to that write can be thrown away and that WAL space can be re-used. When you do pg_start_backup, it just temporarily stops

Amazon has adverts on TV saying how wonderful it is to work for Amazon. My first thought when seeing them is, that's a PR campaign, and the truth is almost certainly the opposite.

I think the Debian example is a useful one here. If you release your software under a NC license, then it can't be integrated into Debian. The reason for this is that Debian is freely available for anyone to download and install. Someo
