There was no way no create a pdf file with a Mac back in 1993. It didn't take off until Acrobat 3 a few years later, and then you couldn't make decent pdfs unless you bought Acrobat 4 and use Distiller. You'd typically share

I don't understand this opinion of "little fundamental physics". First, what do people actually know about all of modern physics to make such a statement? There's despair at HEP, yes, but it's because we can't

Not really, actually we understand pretty well electromagnetism, electrodynamics, plasma physics and numerical methods for those. We can simulate these things, so there's no need to reinvent the wheel going full Faraday at the 21st cen

Tell me how I can remove the background of a yellowed old book I have to read or print for my research side-project with a PDF file. I don't understand dismissive generalisations about a tool coming from people that don't use it.

I've been using it for years. For scanned materials it's simply better: files are smaller, rendering is snappy, and if you're into old books its background/foreground model really pays off. Quite strange this scepticism

Let me remind you of the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939, and its hefty toll on Spain. Like all civil wars, it never really ended.

I don't know about that. I'm a physicist myself and found his 2016 IAC presentation embarrasing. I wasn't expecting a crewed spacecraft inside the Jupiter radiation belts, nor a 70s artist impression of the surface of Europa.
