I like Rust, but to be honest, your comment just supports my belief that it really isn't worth the investment for most web devs and non-C++ devs (and even in C++, it's an awful investment for gamedev, for example). There is a lon

r/TrueFilm is much better imo. Far from perfect, but it seems much closer to "HN for film nerds" than r/movies. Still, a new community that isn't beholden to Reddit's quirks and whims is always welcome.

I wasted too much time and energy trying to look for an answer to this, and the only one I ended up with was: Frontend at higher risk, but other than that it doesn't really matter. If LLMs continue to succeed, no dev field is safe. We

I just pay the $20/month for Claude Pro and copy/paste code. Many people use Cursor and Double, or alternative frontends they can use with an API key.

I'm not making any predictions, but I think we'll have a much better idea of the long-term prospects of AI in late 2024 - mid 2025. Claude Opus 3.5 is supposed to be released later this year, and GPT-5 is expected sometime in 2025

AI image gen in particular is really cheap. You can run the best state of the art open source model, which also gives you much more control than something like DALL-E, on a consumer GPU.
