Have you been to the site? It's not at all navigable on desktops. When you can't even read the content without being shoved into another section of the site entirely, it's kind of a big deal.

I wouldn't say work on Dribbble is necessarily best practice. Many of the shots are just concepts by people who care more about "pretty" than how functional and realistically useful they are in the wild.

I believe it will always comes down to context. Some people love pixel fonts (like Silkscreen), but they generally don't have a place in larger sizes or on paper. Likewise, browsers handling serifs' mix of thick and thin line weights can le

Then why not sign up for it directly? Hypothetically, if you hadn't discovered it from some other tech blog using it (many of which have been linked here), the steps to find it probably went from trying to fill out the actual form on Svbtle

Yup. While part of what makes Svbtle original is the admin panel, the look itself is basically just Clarus, a free Tumblr theme, without the gradient. I've stood up for Dustin on other matters, but I think he's in the wrong when he tries to

I should add that if you are on OS X and know you won't be opening Photoshop files, Pixelmator has tons of great tutorials ( http://www.pixelmator.com/tutorials ) for all skill-levels and is on sale for $15 right now. It can open PSDs just

Just as note: a lot of these tutorial sites advocate methods that make what you're trying to accomplish harder than it has to be or leaves your work (or just layers of it) in states where it is hard to manipulate thereafter. This can leave

Thanks for responding! I would think so. I mean, I'd want to use it throughout the entire iterative process, so that means I'm waiting at least a week for everyone's feedback, implementing it and getting it back up there and then having the

Yeah, I'm confused as to why this was so shocking to the point where it was circulated and warranted a blog post. I've written equally as innocent "just looking to be around talented folks even if it means.." cover letters to companies I re

I posed what I think is a similar question to a friend of mine that I'm designing a node.js app with. I thought that being in JavaScript, it would handle everything a lot more fluidly, like web apps such as koding.com. In reality, it's just

Dribbble suffers from this same problem too though, as evidenced by the somewhat depressing "Everyone" feed. It's more about who you know (or follow) rather than how talented you actually are. A lot of people just invite friends, co-workers

The awkward thing with Quartz is that the design itself is great, but the implementation and experience is a total failure in the browser. I am 100% with you on the point you're making, but Quartz makes a better example of what-not-to-do.
