I recently read an article about a brain scientist that said how dangerous it is to use the same words for completely different things. We use human analogy to describe LLMs and then think LLMs exhibit human behaviour. No reasoning has noth

There is absolutely ZERO evidence or possibility that LLMs are currently conscious, everyone working in AI knows this, (and don’t listen to the marketing hypes). LLMs still can’t reason (don’t confuse with the marketing word) , plan, or und

Actually I work in a AI (like actually training models) and yes the models are insane, still the architecture has not in its core changed. Also „reasoning“ is actually a bad word for what really happens. There are many famous voices in AI t

That would still be circumventing. There are other architectures that could be more dynamic, LLMs are not. It is completely different. Our brain rewires itself to store memories, there is no memory storage for humans.

No they don’t have memories. With an harness you just send historic data into the prompt.

We use the same terms for computers and brain, but the analogies are misleading. LLMs don’t even have memory, how do you have consciousness without memory? The architecture probibits any signs of consciousness.

Nope, only if the architecture changes. Still probabilistic prediction models

That is a lazy definition. A machine doesn’t even want to watch TV. Apes are conscious, dolphins are, maybe octopus, but definitely not LLMs

Yes, there is a lot of philosophy on that, but the way LLMs work is inherently different from brains, though we use similar terms, hence the confusion. You are right there may be artifical intelligence, just not with LLMs LLMs are still sta

Thinking LLMs are conscious is as ridiculous as thinking a thermostat wants the room to be warm

Most sci-fi is about genuinely sentient AI, and we are far from that. There is no sign of any intent or internal motivation. If you know anything about machine learning, you know that the idea that LLMs have any form of consciousness is rid

In the big picture, the amount of resources poured into this contest is probably close to 0%. Also why worse? Some great designs out there.

There is enough info online, this is just the survey. Yes site looks like shit, but cool they ask the people.

I don’t really get why this gets so much hate. Seems like this is the era of Eurohate. I think it is great that people get asked for their opinion, why not.

He also forgot Europe in the equation. More and more companies use Chinese open models on European inference because of geopolitical concerns and data privacy, which could be a problem for the big US ai labs if they loose on the market.

I have lived both in the US and two European countries. Food quality is not even on the same scale. So much better in Europe, you can’t even compare, no wonder life expectancy is higher.

This whole story that Europe suffers from overregulation is just in parts true, and mainly lazy thinking. In fact there was a study by an American law school that came to the conclusion that the US has more bureaucracy than many European co

You are not up to date, this is already in legislation process and needs the vote of the parlaiment, highly likely it will come. There is also a simplification package and a migration pact. A lot is happening right now

It does matter, for example for all countries that signed the ECHR. And most European countries even have more rights guaranteed by the state and by EU. You are trying to move goalposts instead of trying to counter my arguments
