No offense, but I don't think the post was direct towards you. It's like when Smashing Magazine puts out "here's how you write a 5-line JavaScript" function. The post is obviously directed towards designers with little programming knowledge

Checks out fine with 3.5.3 on WinXP, but I'd point the finger at that poorly-formatted HTML.

I'd say it has to do more with the use of the pipe character on the command line than the typography angle of it, but I could be wrong.

Borlaug had no problem with people buying organic (e.g., "Let them buy it. Let them pay a bit more. It's a free society."). His issue was that first-world people shouldn't completely abandon the advancement of genetically-modified food as i

Programming isn't that hard? Writing code is easy, writing good code is hard, otherwise more people would do it, right?

Different strokes for different folks, my man. The business-oriented people can read Founders, the technical-minded people can read can read Coders, and then the intersection of the two can read both! I personally find the idea of this book

Fonts can be embedded into PDFs, if I remember correctly. Most PDF creators handle this for you automatically by default.

I read through the code, but I don't really know Ruby that well, so I'm not 100% sure of what the exploit was. Looking at the patch, it appears that their "check for UTF-8" function wasn't perfect. Is this correct? If so, how is this exploi

Just pre-ordered my copy. I'm really hoping that the content meets a certain level of technicality. The fact that it is written by Peter Seiblel and the interview previews on each one seems to indicate that it will be. I'm looking forward t

Completely tangential, but how did you get into consulting? I'm also in my 20s, in a tech-heavy area (RTP, NC), and have been considering doing something like that on the side, but have no good idea where to start.

I disagree with your point about the performance issues. I've had increasing issues with Flash video stuttering (audio stays fine, but video freezes momentarily until it "catches up") on Firefox. I recently switched to Opera and these issue
