Tl;dr: porn DVD sales through floor. Big studios nervous. Youporn mysterious, huge, unprofitable, looking for a buyer. Big studios won't bite, due to obvious potential legal liability of hosting user generated content.

it's a little depressing that mr. stewart is considered a game changer. i've seen the daily show a number of times. i don't necessarily disagree with much of what he says. but...his smirking, smug, winking schtick is tiresome, prepackaged

meh, that's nothing. i can do one better (in the small gap of paid, but also screwed). had a client pay me for work, be very happy etc, take the project away (after promising continued business), and had the new "developer" take all credit

i'm 100% sure that postgresql's goal was not to "make [their] technology attractive to a broad base". it was to create the best free rdbms they could.

ok, mea culpa. i've only used jira and confluence, along with a few plugins (the notably awful jira "agile" plugin). over the span of a number of years, myself, and everyone else in the vicinity (at multiple companies) hated it with a passi

Too bad, hg and bb are great, but Atlassian makes abominable tools. On the upside, my account is now cheaper (free).

Because I use mercurial. Every commit is a branch if you want it to be. Also, task branching model is a bit heavy for my tastes.

I often work on projects that have no definable total cost, or even set schedule, which sometimes run into years. Pretty sure I'm not getting a deposit on that. Been doing it for many years (nearly a decade), never been screwed. Ymmv, may

I worked for an company that sends billions of messages per month. Their largest list is over 1500000 recipients, and delivery is tracked. Since the problem is trivially parallel, I just wrote a tiny jruby app that drove postfix, and multi

Wycats noted in the comments of the article that the pg driver is indeed safe for use in rails threaded mode. As a psql fan, it makes me wonder what the rails world would be like had dhh had picked psql from the start.
