How about single-core performance?

No, it's not, it's absolutely the hardware. The vertical integration surely doesn't hurt, but third-party software runs very fast and efficient on M-series too, including Asahi Linux.

I've used Authelia for a few years and it's great. It does exactly what I need/want. Not more, not less. It's also never failed me.

In The Netherlands, Teletekst is still used a lot, a remnant from the 80s that miraculously survived into the internet era. It's one of the most installed apps here. https://nos.nl/teletekst You can even consume it ove

I don't really understand why this is such a big problem. You don't have to use snaps.

You claimed churning through Python interpretation is not "real work". You now correctly ask the question: what is "real work"? Why is interpreting Python not real work, if it means I don't have to check for array b

I think Tailwind became popular because React doesn't have a good way to combine CSS and JSX in a single file, unlike Vue/Svelte which support single-file components. With Tailwind utility classes you can just add them to your JSX

They don't need to. It's performative virtue signalling. Recall is encrypted, opt-in and on-device. Apple Intelligence sends your personal data to the cloud and claims it's a feature and no one bats an eye.

X1 is Intel only, but the new Lunar Lake is quiet and cool. And T14(s) comes with AMD. Mac hardware still is #1, but kernel panics because holding it wrong is definitely not normal.

It's a few years behind is true, but the gap keeps widening. DP Alt Mode isn't supported. M3 and M4 support might never happen. It doesn't seem like a viable long-term alternative to be honest.

I don't really understand the comparison with a cheap Asus laptop. Ofcourse the MBP will win. But a decent Lenovo ThinkPad or HP EliteBook/ZBook will have flawless Linux support with a rigid and robust chassis.

I too use LLDAP and Authelia. I use Caddy (no Traefik) as a reverse proxy to protect my services using 2FA SSO. It's very easy to use and I can access all my services anywhere in the world without bothering with a VPN.

I agree uv is amazing, but it's not a virtual machine, it's a virtual environment. It runs the scripts on top of your OS without any hardware virtualization. The virtual environment only isolates the Python dependencies.

With WhatsApp I can backup and restore my messages. With Signal I cannot. I had to reset my iPhone 2 weeks ago because "system storage" was magically taking up 30GB of my 128GB iPhone. The iCloud backup restored everything perfect
