Why would you want to use an iPad for coding? Honestly, the laptop form factor is pretty great for coding on the go. If you're going to reinvent a solution for a problem already solved, it's need to be a better solution, not a gim

Just because you didn't know about the concept doesn't mean the distinction is nonsense. I think they are similar but not the same, exactly for the reasons laid out in the comment you are replying too. Just because you hate the la

Strong statements without any substance behind them like yours are not helpful in my opinion. So how about something a bit more nuanced: choose the right tool for the right job.

I would think legal ambiguity is at the benefit of those who have good lawyers. So changing the system could mean: better legislation and better protection for regular citizens and employees.

I agree. Be professional. Assume good intent and keep your opinions for yourself when nobody is asking for it.

You are right, it's two different messages. I always am annoyed by how companies apologize for the communication or the confusion arising after the communication. As if we, the public, didn't understand properly or are too dumb to

No one can do meetings effectively like this. This is why I always suggest to participants to prepare upfront and use the meeting time to make decisions and not deep thinking. Also I try to never let myself be pressured into a decision with

I also selfhost a lot. For me it's mainly a hobby. I have a fiber connection and an old laptop that now functions as a Ubuntu server. Laptops are nice because it means it can easily endure brief power outages. I run everything in Docke

What's unfinished? I love the new Windows terminal and have been using it for quite some time. Unfinished is subjective.

Isn't that a classic case of survivorship bias? Maybe their early release allowed these products to become fully baked much quicker due to shorter feedback cycles?

Writing custom shell scripts to avoid complexity usually achieves the opposite result. I can Google npm errors, but not why a custom shell script fails. Second, anyone reading the repo is now expected to understand not 1 but 2 languages. Fi

Bitcoin has theoretical value. However, how many people are in bitcoin because of said reasons? I'd argue less than 1%. The other >99% are in it to make money out of thin air. So indeed, the value will never go to zero but the curre

Money is not a scam at all. That's a ridiculous claim. I can use money to purchase goods and services. Not a scam. I can't use crypto to purchase goods and services. Yes a scam. Simple.

Also, scaling issues are not a problem, they're milestones that ought to be celebrated. The things you are building are being used. You get to solve known unknowns, which are so much better than unknown unknowns. The reward is clear. W

Performance is not _only_ determined by the processing time. Downloading the JS bundle and parsing it takes a lot of time. There's no need for that on the server. First page load is always very slow for CSR. Any client-side navigation

Yes, a lot. Time to first contentful paint is way worse with CSR vs SSR. Takes some time to download and run these JS bundles.

It's not an issue, it's a trade-off. Do you want your users to experience faster initial page loads? If yes, then the cost might be worthwhile. If not, then not. Especially in ecommerce it's well worth the cost.

But this often not necessary, because if you can run a production Kubernetes cluster, you can also run a dev Kubernetes cluster, so no need to run a local Kubernetes distribution. My workflow typically looks like this: 1. Run app locally du
