Yep. What drives me even more crazy is things which are purely syntactically wrong, e.g. an else: clause with no if before it are only detected when the interpreter gets to that line.

Because, with the popularity of Linux, people have forgotten how varied unix-like OSes once were. I'm sure the grandparent poster will mention things like how it stores configuration differently, etc, but that's only not-unix-like

When I was about 16, I read Larry Niven's _A World Out of Time_. It left me with very mixed feelings about the matter. Unfortunately all the times I had the means to sign up for such, I didn't have the desire to. Tell me, what w

Look at it this way: why would a lot of the best engineers want to work at Cisco? Maybe when they were the company they were 20 years ago, but today?

Direct sunlight kills a lot of things pretty well on its own. A lot of multicellular organisms that spend much time in the sun have all sorts of adaptations to deal with it.

A blacklight flashlight is a simple tool where you can understand how it works. This is a opaque service and you cannot reasonably know what's going on behind the scenes.

I think it's just a newer version of how much American-produced television was having this affect on the world a generation ago. (Including the dominance of the New York/Los Angeles dialect.)

I think that's true, except for the rich and powerful that can enjoy comfortable living in higher (average) density areas. Comfortably isolated from the grime and noise and poor mass transit.
