I had developed a similar tool: http://wrrrite.com , but didn't know that this is such a highly competitive space

I cannot, in good conscience, charge for just scraped content. I mentioned it before, but once I complete testing, I'll release the full source on GitHub

I'm using it in http://readapp.net & my upcoming HN News App, so it isn't schedule to disappear any time soon. Send me an email, so we can discuss this further, if you'd like to.

I set out to build my own interpretation and that's what I did. It does have an automatic extraction pattern, but also uses per side rules, if available. I'd say the main distinguishing factor is the price point: free.

I added a set of rules for this page. Unfortunately the DOM isn't easily broken down, thus the extra clutter.

A word of advice about using the comment links in the hn's rss feed, from personal experience: try not to scrape them in an interval. I mistakably ran a piece of code that went through 7~10 different posts in a short period of time (30 secs

I like the approach of going outside of your "comfort zone" and start discovering new things. Limiting my exposure to what I enjoy most is not an intellectually curious strategy.

Why would HN refuse to provide a useful RSS feed / a non standard compliant one (number of comments/points/time of submission/id) that could be used to develop apps for a better reading experience? http://api.ihackernews.com/ is unreliabl
