I'm not sure if this is the decision I would have made if I were on Groupon's board, but as an outsider I am delighted to see this, because now we get the chance to see if Groupon transcends being a mere coupon site and succeeds at fundamen

Considering that the list is limited to "launched or founded" in 2010, I'd disagree that using revenue is the best metric.

Can you explain how the statistics cited in your link support your argument? All I see are comparisons of income distributions at various points in time - without any discussion of whether people are moving between different parts of the d

Advice and a little bit of seed capital does not constitute "a central organization directing the economics." I think your conception of what YC does for accepted companies is pretty far from reality.

Didn't something similar happen with Wattvision when they launched? It was a bug in GAE authentication-the site didn't even intend to do that.

Microsoft is not a monolithic entity. People in different parts of the company have legitimately different agendas, which is also a source of lots of Microsoft's problems. I have no reason to doubt that that Alex Kipman and Shannon Loftis

Our initial paid offering is priced based on back-of-the-envelope estimates of how long it takes a full-time employee to manually create the reports we generate, and what these employees are typically paid. For these brands, the benefit the

Thanks for your interest! And our apologies for the delay in sending out invites. For us, it's actually really important to let people in slowly. A new user signup is the most expensive event for our infrastructure by a huge margin, since

We just moved to the crowdbooster.com domain (formerly converse.ly) and re-did our landing and about pages in the past few days; SEO is definitely something we need to look at soon. We're loyal GinzaMetrics (YCS10) users so that should help

Thanks for the interest! We're starting with just a free version for consumers and one price all for paid users. Our first paid feature is reporting, which at $200/mo makes sense for any business which currently has an employee spend hours

Obviously you wouldn't write kernels. You would write the equivalent of shell scripts for ordinary users. Imagine if ordinary users could automate their daily workflow or customize MS Word as much as vim or emacs users do with their editor

I frequently get friend requests from fake profiles on Facebook (sometimes as many as 2-3 per week). They always list themselves as having gone to my high school (which is why I am positive they are fake, since I went to a tiny high school)

On some occasions, seemingly at random from the end user perspective, either logging in, loading a message, or sending a message can take upwards of 30 seconds. Searches are usually fine for me. Loading emails on my phone using IMAP also ta

Depends on who you are. If you look at my comment history, you'll find several very long comments with many, many upvotes. On the other hand, when I tried to do the "quick one line correction" thing in this thread, it didn't turn out too

Amazing the number of rumors flying after two vague, non-committal sentences in the earnings call last week. We should start a betting pool for what companies Apple will buy. Oh wait, such a pool already exists and is called the stock mark

For most everyday tasks that ordinary users do, the presence of the SSD will make the Air seem like the fastest computer they have ever used. Only desktop games and flash-heavy websites will highlight the relatively ancient CPU.
