Okay, but _you literally can't do it_. Google couldn't do it (Fuchsia is dead). Blow can't do it. Ripping the bottom layer out of the stack the world is built on is just too hard.

"There's no learning curve" just means this guy didn't get very far up, which is definitely backed up by thinking that Copilot and other tools are all basically the same.

"Best option among loser tools" isn't the high praise you think it is, though.

Claude Code or cursor-cli or Codex or any of the command-line tools should be good. (Claude Code seems so far to be the option people like best of those, though.)

The thing that I keep wondering about: If the coding part is 2-5x more productive for you, but the stuff around the coding doesn't change... at some point, it'll have to, right? The cost/benefit of a lot of practices (this ar

Genepy is the best substitute. But now that the monks aren't making as much, other subs have popped up. But definitely not absinthe.

Github Copilot is weirdly bad, and all the alternatives are better. Sometimes people think "they have the same model, must be the same," but it's not.

Children who were born when Chrome came out can vote in the midterms next year. If your prediction takes as long to mature as a newborn baby, it's maybe _too_ prescient.

You will lose the password manager, but switch to 1Password -- it's way better anyway. Also, if you use Android, Firefox Mobile, with ad-blocking there, is the real killer advantage of Firefox.

They keep a lot of models around for backward compatibility for API users. This is confusing, but not inherently a bad idea.

That Calibre option isn't relevant -- it's for Kobo's native stuff, which treats "KEPUB" different from regular ePub, in ways that I haven't bothered to remember.

I mean, sure. But like, vim never merged with vi, either -- to this day, you can find old things that are still running pre-vim versions of vi. It's just that over time, more and more things switched their default version of vi to vim,

Given what he's saying here -- that Vim is in "maintenance mode" -- I don't think you'll need any formal merge. Neovim is just where all new development is done, and it'll slowly replace traditional Vim over ti

Windsurf is even moreso this way -- it'll look through your codebase trying to find the right files to inspect, it runs the build/test stuff and examines the output to see what went wrong. I found interacting with it via chat to b

I think this criticism of WHATWG forgets how moribund and ossified W3C was at the time, up its own ass with semantic web nonsense and an imaginary suite of XHTML 2.0 technologies that had no path to reality. Hixie's criticisms of it we

What sucks is, Tesla's chargers will only charge Hyundai/Kia vehicles very slowly (50kW) due to a mismatch between their 400V and the 800V of the cars. I was hoping that they'd announce a fix to this, but... nope. Cynically,

The hinge _was_ light on the old ones (deliberately, they wanted it to be easy to open with one hand), but after a lot of feedback like this, they went with a heavier one. I have a 12th gen and a 13th gen (one is my wife's), and the ne
