That's definitely a better example, yeah. I think that it's a very manageable problem -- if your functions are small and compositional in the first place, you're not going to be refactoring your 100-line magnum opus in a majo

The "problems with callbacks" section of this is loaded with FUD. I mean, the actual problems they list are almost all minor or easily solvable. 1. Repetitive error-handling, because you usually just want to pass it along. Maybe.

The biggest reason for that is that Apple, Qualcomm, and Samsung have designed their own custom cores, rather than using ARM's license-able ones. So most of the phones you see, instead of using Cortex A72, use Snapdragon 820 or Exynos

I agree with you on all of this, except that I don't think this article really relies on Magical ARM ISA Performance Elves. All it's saying is that the counter-theory ("Magical Intel Process Mastery Performance Elves") k

I mean... "get a paying gig"? Lots of people don't know how to program, but really do need something programmed, so this is a pretty straightforward peanut butter/chocolate scenario, plus you get money.

3200x1800 is 282 dpi. That's about on par with high-end tablets, worse than good phones (440 dpi or so), and worse than jaggie-free laser-printing (600 dpi, although that's not strictly comparable). Text on high-DPI laptop screens

As a team, decide how much you care. Some teams won't care much at all, and will follow a "hey as long as it works" attitude. Other teams will be deeply interested in making their code as good as it could be, and will want co

Legal barriers are not the only barriers. Many companies don't work with a quick-fire model. If you, as a hiring manager, hire a person and then fire them within a month, you're going to need to sit down with your manager and expl

If you're working for employers who think it's easy to find good developers, you're working for employers who hire lots of terrible developers.

If you want an ARM laptop, buy one. The reason most people don't is that that they're slow -- the most popular Chromebooks aren't running Atom or Core M, they're running faster processors.

Your problem is: 1. Great senior devs are actually rare, so yeah, you won't just have them flowing into your applicant queue no matter who you are. 2. You're not just looking for great senior devs, you're looking for great se

That's not even true, it's just that nobody pays attention to other things. Look at Windows desktop apps. If you wanted to make a native Windows desktop line of business app in 2000, you would use Win32 APIs. In 2002 or so, you we
