I imagine with a sufficient power supply it should not be a problem, at least I haven't had any problem with mine yet. I have a friend who's using one of their DBDC cards in an apu2 and he also hasn't had power issues yet.

I've got this one from AsiaRF: https://www.asiarf.com/shop/wifi-wlan/wifi_mini_pcie/wifi6-4... . OpenWRT has drivers for it in the repository, so it's pretty simple to set up. I'm happy with it

It is perhaps cheaper to use an existing design instead of designing a special one for embedded applications. In fact the GX-415GA with an iGPU looks like the exact same package as the GX-412TC, the GPU is probably just not fused off.

I wonder if in pursuit of outright performance, AMD stopped optimizing for low power consumption. Desktop Zen3 Vermeer (which the newly announced 5000E series also are) with chiplets idles at around 20 watts, presumably due to having to mai

Interesting. I believe with runtime (opportunistic) S0ix on x86 we'd be able to get similarly low power consumption at idle, but that would require cooperation from all devices and system firmware. It's already a thing on laptops,

Probably depends on the ISP and what sort of ONT we're talking. My ISP gives me a separate ONT with an ethernet connection for the router. In OpenWRT I set up a PPPoE interface on top of a tagged VLAN with the appropriate credentials a

I have a PC Engines apu2 board (x86 based) with a Mediatek Wi-Fi 6 card, running OpenWRT. Can do gigabit over Wi-Fi with PPPoE based WAN. If I had to get another AP it would probably be another apu2, too bad these are outrageously expensive

It's fun until you try to add Wi-Fi to the mix :) OpenWRT seems to have patches and better out-of-the-box configs for hostapd and related packages.

I guess it's a matter of Wi-Fi driver support and performance (flow offload)

aptX LL actually supports bidirectional audio. There's also the Faststream codec that does SBC in both directions. For some reason almost no one implements any of these and we're left with atrocious HSP/HFP profiles.

You can actually use `fwupdtool install-blob` to update the UEFI if the board supports and uses UEFI capsule update. I did that with my Asus B550-I and it just worked, it reboots to ASUS EZ-Flash and does the update automatically. All Asus

On AMD Zen and later that is true, but on Intel the BIOS is still responsible for DRAM init (done via Intel's FSP)

That's Intel's boost behavior, AMD is much more linear. My 4750U in performance mode never exceeds 25W and settles at 23W under sustained load.

I imagine adjusting this would be a total nightmare compared to a simple barrel adjuster in a Bowden cable system.

It's so that you can drive more monitors than a single GPU supports. For example, my T430 with discrete graphics could drive 4 monitors simultaneously while the iGPU model was limited to 2 (3 unofficially). It became so annoying at one
