Don't know if Tom (Real Time Trains) reads hacker news, but if you do - congrats on the mention! Obsession clearly pays.

From my cursory run-ins with either community I would say the "snootiness" has very little to do with the fact they train differently and quite a lot with the fact they often train poorly. Additionally you are creating a ridiculou

I would guess most programmers understand the distinction between the two. However understanding the difference in theory doesn't always mean one applies successfully it in practice. E.g. if you were unaware of the CPython GIL you migh

I watched this a few weeks ago when the lawsuit was first publicised. Senator Shelby from Alabama is so infuriatingly transparent. I mean it's so obvious he has no real interest in lowering spending. ULA is effectively a jobs programme

You must be reading a different set of comments from me. Overall I see quite a lot of short low-information / trying-to-be-funny / plain ignorant comments that add very little value to the story.

While I'm not a particular fan of this digression, in the defense of the guy you replied to he never said Obama was any better. You are the one making his argument partisan.

Myself and some friends worked on something similar to this just over a year ago for a group project at University. I think collaborative code editing (or in the case of our project, more aimed at code review) is one of those ideas that lot

Not available in the UK. Region lock for online content is stupid, I get it all the time trying to watch Comedy Central clips - if anything it has made me less likely to ever give them money.

(Personal opinion) It isn't the United States that's attractive. It's the tech-hubs within it. I would never seriously consider moving anywhere but a handful of cities / areas in the US. The eco-systems in those places a

I find it somewhat depressing that the first comments on any post about MongoDB generally seem to be short, disparaging and dismissive without offering much if any substance. We use MongoDB in production, processing millions of new records

You're only addressing half my argument. Just because we can invent the wheel once doesn't mean it's a good idea to make the problem it solves overly complicated for no good reason.
