Huh, polling with a sleep() rather than a proper event wait seems like a bad code smell there...

I was idly wondering about this the other day (maybe php prompted it). Making release tarballs should become a reproducible process too [1]. That avoids the "hack the releaser's dev machine" attack if you verify elsewhere, or

With bitcoin noone will want to change existing history because that's a forked chain, loss of value for lots of people. With bittorrent you could possibly convince all the hosts to get rid of some malware information which isn't

I assume the solokey generates its master key on-device. Seems like it wouldn't be too hard for it to perform Diffie Hellman key exchange with another device to get a shared secret (at first setup) then they could be a cloned pair.

I think the difference with browser extensions is the anonymity and speed of changing owners. There's more momentum to notice big companies going downhill (+- stuff like sourceforge)

Static linking would error out with something like bar.c:(.text+0x0): multiple definition of `socket_send' at compile time. (edit: I mean static linking everything including third party libraries)

Isn't Mercurial different only in nomenclature? The manifest id stored in a changeset is a tree snapshot. Otherwise I don't think hg-git would work as transparently as it usually does. https://www.mercurial-scm.org/

Yes, it works well. The main caveat I've found is you need the rustls feature of packages rather than openssl. Though perhaps that was more related to cross compiling for Arm.

This reminds me of a trick Monotone VCS in C++ had to print out specific variables upon failure. Usually they'd do nothing, but upon hitting an invariant or similar it would dump all the listed ones out. A bit harder to do cheaply in a

LLVM has/will soon have hot-cold splitting, I wonder how much the overhead of error codes would be reduced. Requires an extra step of PGO though. https://llvm.org/devmtg/2019-10/slides/Kumar-HotColdSplitt
