You believe that you can control the cycles of the changes in orbit and axis of our planet, as well as the cycles of solar activity? Or do you have evidence for other primary cyclical causes of ice ages, interglacials, and glaciations?

CO2 levels have steadily declined from 3,000 ppm over the last 150 million years. How do you explain such enormous, steady decline if plants do "[not] even trap carbon"? Further, how do you explain the Carboniferous CO2-fixation t

That's a bit of hand-waving to get to the crux: the current HN collective is mostly unaware of recent decades, and does not care for it. Unless one makes a pandering connection with some name visible in the present day. It's a sad

And what will you do when the current interglacial ends? the last one --the Eemian-- was much warmer, and it did end. Or do you believe that this particular interglacial will, somehow, never end?

I posted the same a couple of days ago. I thought a story of the Whole Earth Catalog --written by a really good journalist, John Markoff-- would have been a perfect match for HN, but apparently not. Do many HN readers even know about Stewar

That's one crucial aspect of the problem. My fingers can navigate across physical controls, simply using my sense of touch, without triggering any of them until I exert sufficient pressure. Could this be emulated in theory with haptic

It's interesting that the issue becomes one of picking the lesser evil, isn't it. I'm a perfectionist, in the sense that I think we can always do better, but there is a cost to that, too, so I don't continue forever on a

I agree. Even with force feedback I don't think these interfaces will ever be as good as physical knobs, buttons, and sliders. "Good" in the sense that they can be reached, perceived, and manipulated with our senses completel

It's pretty simple and there is ample scientific evidence and writing on the topic: at current CO2 levels, plants are starving. There is even satellite-based measurements of vegetation by NASA that demonstrate a global greening of the

If you reject the fact that the vast majority of plants are currently starving for CO2, you reject science. Here is one of many scientific papers on the subject: "Carbon dioxide starvation, the development of C4 ecosystems, and mammali

It's science. Land-based plants evolved when CO2 levels were much higher than today. [1] In fact levels have been steadily declining from 3000 ppm 150 million years ago; the current, holocene rise is a relatively minor bump. [2] [1] h

Are you aware of how CO2 is used by plants? that's a "hidden" benefit of the large-scale use of fossil fuels. At current CO2 levels plants are starved for CO2. At 150 ppm there would be a massive extinction of land-based plan
