Sorry Europe and Canada, $1 and $2 coins are just absolutely terrible . I never want to have to think about where my change is. Bills are much lighter than coins and stack with the rest of the bills.

Back when I worked at Apple no one had stickers on their laptops (gasp, who would dare!). But everyone had identical MacBook Pros, and when we had meetings, they would go in the center of the table and then everyone would have trouble te

I try to avoid stickers from tech products which seem to be the common thing to do. Instead almost all of my stickers are from my friend's art projects.

I've written a fair amount of SML (though years ago) and I can't remember the value restriction ever being an issue. I certainly agree that SML isn't really a production language, though.

What seems weird here? Iterating or mapping over Options is pretty normal in functional languages.

FYI, I was just in Barcelona (I'd fortunately been before) the Sagrada Familia was sold out for the next several weeks. Parc Guell was sold out for the next several days, as well. Casa Batlo had a few tickets.

It's rude like calling someone on the phone is rude or SCREAMING IN ALL CAPS is rude. It's a new social norm that the author is pointing out.

Michelmas is a holiday in September. Michelmas term is a British school term (fall term, I guess) and apparently also means the beginning of the legal year.

I'm pretty sure "Michaelmas term" is just a Britishism sill in use today.

What is the point of this post? Devereux is a literal expert in the field who has studied this for decades. You're...someone on the internet? What are you posting for? This is rank anti-intellectualism.

Catholicism isn't Protestantism. The idea that the Bible is the only source of truth is a Protestant idea and thus is very visible in the US. Catholicism, however, teaches that tradition and church teachings are sources of truth on p

I always use an em dash when possible when I should, and double en dash when I can't, just because I'm that kind of nerd. But it is the case that a double en dash on iOS autocorrects to an em dash, so I'm suspicious of the c

MicroUSB is a terrible connector. Every time I have to use one, it's impossible to get into the slot; it's finicky, breakable and has a one way orientation. Lightning is delightful to use.
