I have used pip freeze > requirements.txt pip install -r requirements.txt Way before "official" lockfile existed. Your requirements.txt becomes a lockfile, as long as you accept to not use ranges. Having this in a single tool e

I am not talking about the Austrian people's skills ;) I bet the employees from Atos were locals, so... I am talking about politicians that are supposed to create the conditions to set this up in a proper, honest and "good" w

I prefer Atos + a solid open source solution to "an own IT department that will ditch the battle tested open source solution because XYZ" and then 6 months later bugs rain from the sky with users' data searchable in google. O

Careful to what you wish for. Autarky can be often found in 19th century literature. The one we hopefully don't want to have or produce anymore.

It depends on where you live. I guess it's not uncommon to hear about someone entering a building "as the delivery guy" just to try to pick a lock and see which one opens. If you make too much noise people will get suspicious

It's compiled. From what I see in other threads, skip.tools offers the possibility to transpile SwiftUi to Compose, so you build one UI and port it to android too. Here we're talking about sharing the code logic (written in swift)

It's not always to gain views, because you can often see that the relative directors/presidents of such media companies openly support certain types of people. The way I see it, especially lately in Germany, is really about electi

This is one of the greatest news I have heard of in the last 20 years or so. More of that, please. Politicians responsible for starting a war, bombing a country, causing a lot of our current issues (e.g., with illegal migration flows) for p

How can someone explain this to a kid? Is there somewhere an even more simplified version than Arduino or similar to show how all these things actually work? I know arduino is not a cpu, but overall, how these things work together, would be

Man, literally everything we have been doing since the 90's makes totalitarian leaders foam at the mouth. Do you understand we're willingly sharing our name, surname, relationships, friends, where we work, what we do, how much we

I disagree. With chatgpt I don't search, I ask. Chatgpt explains, I ask again, and refine and refine. Ask back for sources, etc. When in doubt, I copy/paste a statement and I search for it with Google. And then Google LLM kicks in

Can we at least agree on what populism is? Because one way or another, every party "uses" that.

This is an assumption. Reality is, though, that you shouldn't put all your eggs in the same basket. And it was indeed the case before the cloud. One service going down would have never had this cascade effect. I am not even saying &quo

Well, if you have kids you care about, you might rethink that. That's what a lot of people do, or they believe they do. Would that be irrational then? Or just selfish? Or both, or neither?

It's fun to see SRE jumping left and right when they can do basically nothing at all. "Do we enable DR? Yes/No". That's all you can do. If you do, it's a whole machinery starting, which might take longer than t

Nope. Don't get the economical aspects mixed up with the political ones. EU (or EEC) up until the 1992 Maastricht treaty was exactly what people wanted/countries needed: free trade / movement of goods etc. In 1992 the good an
