I agree with you that they're not logical, but unfortunately I think it's too late to fix now. All the documentation, stackoverflow questions and answers, and so forth assume you're using standard git commands and terminology. At least (in

That's pretty awesome! Although I think the elements of the "poor" example that draw attention to some potentially pertinent information shouldn't have been removed. (For example, the fact that the applicant is not mission-essential during

I thought the "changing underneath" in the title was referring to "hot" VM migration too (i.e. no downtime, but different physical hardware, like http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Migration ) but I think it's a bit picky to object to the way it's u

I don't really get Laravel. The docs talk about dependency injection but at the same time they really really love static function calls. For example there's no event manager class, only a single, global event manager: e.g. "Event::fire('l

I think that's going to be difficult, at least initially. It looks like you at least get a MySQL client though, and it can run WordPress with only a few changes: http://www.hiphop-php.com/wp/?p=113

HipHop is incredibly promising, though it basically wasn't used outside Facebook in 2012. I hope it will get more adoption in 2013, which (as well as the performance benefits) should make PHP play a bit better with the Heroku-style service

I don't believe this is true. I've set up a Facebook account, and provided Facebook an email address only, and had reasonable "Friend Suggestions" appear presumably based on the presence of that email address in other people's address book

Well, companies seem to like to brand their dashboards, emphasise different aspects and so on. But still, I agree it would be really cool if you could use the same API browser everywhere, to avoid crappy dashboards, and that HAL would could

RSS is a great example, because about the most sophisticated link relation in RSS is a link. But there seems to be a big difference in kind between what's being suggested for hypermedia APIs and the example of RSS. With RSS, the client does

Sorry, I don't get what you're responding to. Browsers don't understand hypermedia APIs (or even HAL)--they only grok HTML.

Oh! If that's the sort of thing we're talking about, then I'm all for it. The proponents of Hypermedia APIs have been saying a lot of vague things about how it will enable automated clients, and I assumed that the clients they had in mind
