I'm not defending the CEO's memo but "joined at the hip" is a very common idiom and in normal (and this) usage has no connotation with conjoined twins. Attack the opinion all you like, but this isn't productive.

I use linux on the desktop, but I still run a MacBook for my laptop. Nobody else offers the same combination of battery life to performance/weight, build quality, keyboard, trackpad, and screen. Of course it's not perfect for ever

Sure, I forgot about those. Those are homebrew kits, nothing to do with the IPA you buy at a pub or bar. You can't make a sweeping statement about IPAs based on those.
